Oh cool.  

Assuming you don't already know everything, could you talk to Michael
Hudson and Armin Rigo?  I think they are working on the compiler (IIRC
from the python patch I mentioned).  Others are probably working on
compiler, I don't know.  It would be great to know that some of my
information/perceptions are out-dated and no longer valid.  Or how we
can fix the current situation.
